  71. This package contains CompuSlave For Windows (TM) by Stevenson Technical
  72. Services, Inc. (STSI).  This document contains only a brief description
  73. of the package and its features, along with instructions for its
  74. installation. Quite detailed documentation is included in the package,
  75. but it is in archived form, and is more easily read after installation.

  77. CompuSlave is a program designed to import CompuServe forum capture
  78. files into a database, converting them to individual messages.  Add,
  79. delete, edit, and search the entire database for key words or phrases.
  80. Make those messages work for you!  Create your own technical support
  81. resource. CompuSlave is ideal for power users, programmers, and network
  82. administrators.  Network support is included.

  84. CompuSlave is a shareware program. You may use it for up to 2 weeks,
  85. without charge (see CSLAVEW.DOC for more details).  If you like the
  86. program, and wish to continue its use after this evaluation period, you
  87. are required to pay for the program (see REGISTER.DOC for more details).
  88. Any fee you may have paid to others (disk vendors, dealers, etc.) to
  89. obtain this evaluation version was a fee for their copying and
  90. distribution services, rather than a payment for continued use of the

  111. ===== Installation =====================================

  113. To install CompuSlave For Windows, follow these instructions:
  114.  
  115. The package includes a program, "SETUP.EXE", which automates the
  116. installation process.  You will need about 3 megabytes of available disk
  117. space on the hard drive on which you plan to install CompuSlave For
  118. Windows.  Additional space will be required for each database you create.
  119. The amount of space required for databases depends completely on the
  120. number of messages that will be stored in the database.
  121.  
  122. The exact steps you need to take to install CompuSlave will depend on how
  123. you received the program.
  124.

  126. Installing From Diskettes
  127.  
  128. To install from diskette, you need to perform the following steps.
  129.  
  130. 1. Place the CompuSlave distribution diskette "Disk 1" in the appropriate
  131. diskette drive.
  132.  
  133. 2. From Program Manager, select File Run. Execute the "setup.exe" program
  134. on the distribution diskette. For example, if the distribution diskette
  135. is on drive A:, type the command, "a:setup".
  136.  
  137. 3. Follow the instructions presented by the setup program. You will have
  138. a chance to approve installation before any changes are actually made to
  139. the contents of your hard drive.  The program will ask you for a
  140. destination directory, and will copy the program files to that directory.
  141. When the setup program has finished installing files, you will be
  142. informed if the installation was successful.

  146. Installing From A Hard Drive
  147.  
  148. If you downloaded CompuSlave For Windows from a BBS (or received it in
  149. the form of an archive file from some other source), you will need to
  150. perform the following steps.

  153. 1. Extract the contents of the archive file into a temporary directory on
  154. your hard drive.
  155.  
  156. 2. From Program Manager, select File, Run.  Execute the "setup.exe"
  157. program, which you have extracted.  For example, if the temporary
  158. directory into which you have extracted the files is C:\TEMPDIR, you
  159. would type the command, "c:\tempdir\setup".

  161. 3. Follow the instructions presented by the installation program. You
  162. will have a chance to approve installation before any changes are
  163. actually made to the contents of your hard drive.  The installation
  164. program will ask you for a destination directory, and will copy the
  165. program files to that directory.
